Activity Playlist

For the past couple of weeks I have been getting into using fitness DVDs to increase my activity level, but I kept on running into a problem. The person telling me what to do was obviously trapped inside my TV and could not do a thing about whether I was following their instructions. Although it would be nice if they could, I cannot afford a personal trainer, so I found a solution. I compiled a playlist to blast while I work out along with the tiny people in my television. In all seriousness, it really helped me focus on the movements and the repetitions flew by.

Here are some songs that keep me going:

I Pronounce Today to be...Fit Day

Today is one of two days off in a row, so I decided to hit a local gym. I can't afford a gym membership right now, but I hope to be able to get one after I reach lifetime with Weight Watchers and no longer have to pay $40/mo.

With a day pass you can also go to any of the classes, so I planned to go to pilates in the morning and spinning in the early evening. I was REALLY nervous because I'm not that outgoing when you first meet me and I had never been to a group fitness class before. Luckily, all of my classmates were very nice, helpful, and welcoming. I had worried it would be a bit of a competition, but it wasn't like that at all. The Pilates instructor worked with me on some of the more advanced moves and made some modifications, but for the most part I was able to keep up. Spin class was demanding, but it felt great! I had never even been on a spin bike before, so the instructor went over some basics with me at the beginning and told me that his routine is challenging, but I can always modify it to suit my current physical abilities. To the surprise of everyone in the room and myself, I was right with the pack throughout the entire class. The instructor didn't believe I was a beginner by the end of the class. That felt good even though I've always had very strong legs.

Afterwards my boyfriend surprised me with Thai for dinner :). I got a Thai beef salad. It was delicious! I have no clue how many points it was, but I earned 8 AP (Activity Points) today and had 7 regular points going into dinner. I'll probably have a fudgesicle and call it a night.

What an amazing day. I wish I could afford to go to the gym more often.

Still Truckin'

Things are still  moving along rather well with this whole diet/lifestyle change. I am loving the changes to my body... I feel young and vibrant again, people are noticing a drastic change in my figure, and best of all, I am feeling healthier.

Conventional exercise is not going so well. I have started getting one type of exercise on a regular basis, but I am not one to "kiss and tell" or gross out my more reserved family members. I was actually getting ready to do my Biggest Loser Weight Loss Yoga DVD today when my mom and her co-worker walked in and dragged me off to bingo. Ok, so they didn't drag me. I went quite willingly and actually ended up winning $87.

Weight-loss is still continuing. As of yet, I have not plateaued. Yesterday at the Monday meeting weigh-in I lost 1.8 pounds. My total weight loss is 28.8 pounds in the 9 weeks I have been on the WW plan. YAY! I have started scrap-booking my journey. As a gift, I got a scrap-book where so far I have put all my Momentum Plan materials, my 10% key chain, 10% post card, and a print out of this weeks updated weight-loss ticker. I have started using eTools these past couple of days so that I may electronically archive my food journal and weight-loss. By doing this I can also print out charts and food summaries to get a visual of my progress and see what works best.

Things are going well and I am ecstatic. So far I am like one of the individuals on the WW commercial where it says in a caption beneath them, "Results not typical". But here's the thing. The results can be typical! All it takes is willpower and a commitment to a healthier life style. I hope that eventually I will rub off on my mother's husband, so that he will take the reigns of his eating habits and steer them down a healthier path.

Even though things are pretty dandy, I do have some things to work on. I know I have said this many times, but EXERCISE needs to start happening. NO EXCUSES. I am so disgusted with myself for dragging my feet on this.

On a happier note, my next mini-weight goal is to reach the 15% mark. All I have to lose is 1.8 pounds. I hope to reach this within the next two weeks, but I would like to hit the 30 pound mark by this next weigh-in. After I reach 15% my next goal is to get down to 163.4 (20%). I would like to reach this goal by May 4th. I don't know if anyone remembers, but I had wanted to reach goal (125 pounds) by the end of this summer. My original goal was 135, but I have since modified it and I don't think it is attainable by the end of the summer. Hopefully, I should be able to get there by the end of October.

There are 50.4 pounds standing between me and my ultimate goal.

To lose by my birthday in the end of September, I would have to lose an average of 1.7 pounds per week.

By the end of Oct: 1.5
By Nov: 1.3
By Dec: 1.2

Well, it's off to bed for me; however, before I go, I want to tell you all that I can almost comfortably wear my old size 10 jeans. My belly is still visibly squished a little, but who cares...YATTA!

(Please Read) Exercise Accountability Plan

My plan to make sure that I am held accountable for exercise is as follows:

EVERY DAY I will post what exercise I have done

Then, next Tuesday, I will post an exercise poll where I will ask people how they thought I did with a scale rating and they can post other comments or suggestions if they so wish.

I know this is like asking you all to do homework, but I really need help in this area.

Thanks in advance!

Belated Valentine's Day hugs and kisses,

Meg

5% Down!!!!!!!!!

Hey everyone!

Sorry about the delay in getting the follow-up to the poll posted! I've been slacking (but not on my goal). Monday was my Weight Watchers meeting and weigh-in day. I lost another 2.8 pounds for a total loss of 10 pounds! I just barely met my mini goal which was to lose 5% of my body weight, but hey, I DID IT.

Today as my present to myself I ordered a Belly Dancing exercise video. Since, I will be needing to add exercise into my plan soon to keep the weight-loss going... I haven't exercised yet. One of the WW leaders told me that since my body is considering working on my feet as exercise, I should weight til the weight-loss slows before I add any more in. Today I got satellite and was watching FiTV for the heck of it and they were doing belly dancing. It looked like such a fun way to exercise that I ordered a video!

I must admit to you all that I am not feeling 100% thrilled. I am glad that I met one goal, but I am a little disappointed that I haven't gone down a pant size yet. I tried on some old jeans to see how far I had to go to fit into my old size 10's and 12's and I still have some work ahead of me to get there. I am glad I chose to buy that exercise video! Now let's see if I ever put it in the DVD player...
